FIBRE OPTIC NETWORK
New Plymouth to Palmerston North
SETTING THE SCENE
Above ground 285 kms is a significant distance. Underground, and through some of New Zealand’s more challenging terrain, the scale is even more impressive. The demand for the digital highway connection between two major North Island locations was such that the work had to be done. Which it was.
All the work done was underground utilising experience, and expertise, in directional drilling, mole ploughing, installing pits, chambers and bridge fixing.
The beginning to end solution involved the design of lay plans, installing the pink duct, blowing the fibre to jointing and testing. The large area covered meant that the project was broken up into sections. Commensurate with the complexity of the job multiple clients, local sub-contractors and authorities were engaged with to deliver this project successfully.
