SETTING THE SCENE
The West Coast of the South Island can be beautiful but also bleak. Especially if the project takes place in the middle of winter.
In a remote area several hours drive from the nearest major town. With timeframes that even in the most salubrious of situations would be demanding.
Plus having to manage a variety of different sites simultaneously in what would best be described and an area that is logistically and communication challenging. For more than half the project distance there was no cell phone coverage.
The project entailed installing 36 km of 32mm duct with 11 bridges, cattle crossings and major culverts having to be contended with. 5 pits and 12 rural access hubs were created.
Creating a delivery system that would deliver was a key part of the project delivery.
