AND CABLE HAULING
SETTING THE SCENE
Near the top of the North Island is the town of Kaeo. Isolated in one sense but also needing the necessities of 21st Century life.
Particularly in meeting the technical requirements of the underground work involving 440v, 11kv and 33kv power cables to, and from, a new substation.
Utilising modern technology and skill in directional drilling, trenching and duct laying. Special consultation was required with an archaeologist and arborist.
All work undertaken was underground which is but one of many areas where Connect 8 excels. The project started with onsite assessment of the key variables and issues. This was followed by a design workshop and culminating a full design methodology and program ready for construction.
The program was particularly vital as the substation ‘livening’ date had already been set in stone. Meaning works on the cable installation had to be accelerated. Which it was without any compromise in price, safety and delivery. Connect 8 installed 8km of duct and cable.
The largest drill shot was 450mm to a length of 2 km in order to receive 3 x 150mm ducts of trefoil configuration. Letters of endorsement and appreciation flowed from local Councils as well as a new client. Who shared their enthusiasm with others resulting on new contracts for additional work in the area.
